Tuesday, May 21, 2019 - 12:30 p.m.

The US Army Corp of Engineers is currently releasing water from the Marion Reservoir.

Residents near the Cottonwood River should be aware that water will rise, causing possible flooding outside of the river banks. 
Roads may become impassable.

Water is expected to rise at the Cottonwood River tonight, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 near Marion at
approximately 5:30 p.m. and near Florence at approximately 10:30 p.m.

At this time, the USACE is releasing the minimum amount of water necessary; however, it may become
necessary to release additional amounts at any time.

  • ALL repairs to flooded structures within a designated Special Flood Hazard Area require a Floodplain Development Permit.Fees for floodplain development permits may be waived if damage was caused by recent flooding.Please inquire at the Planning & Zoning Department at 203 South Third Street, Marion, or call (620) 382-2945.

The Transfer Station is providing more convenience for disposal of household trash!

An outside bin will be available overnight through the week at the Transfer Station, 320 W. Santa Fe, Marion.
It will be
set out on Mondays at 7:00 am until Saturdays at Noon.

 Household trash only!  (non-recyclables)

  NO C&D (construction & demolition waste)
  NO SPECIAL WASTE
  NO LOOSE TRASH  (must be in sealed trash bag)
  NO FURNITURE
