PUBLIC ATTENDANCE OF COUNTY COMMISSION MEETINGS BY TELECOMMUNICATION ONLY.  Pursuant to KS Governor Order 20-16, in-person attendance at the County Commission meetings will not be allowed at this time.  We encourage attendance by telecommunication which also allows public interaction.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Planning and Zoning Department are to provide consultation to zoning applicants, maintain records, review site plans, issue construction permits, enforcement of zoning regulations and to provide research and recommendations to Planning Commission.

Functions include:

Zoning:  Administers and enforces zoning and subdivision regulations; processes applications and provides staff support to the Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Building Permits:  Manages review of county building permits.

Please note:  If you are applying for a building permit, you may qualify for the Neighborhood Revitalization program.

The Marion County Planning Commission & Board of Zoning Appeals held public meetings concerning the Wind Energy Conversion System conditional use application for Expedition Wind, LLC.

ALL repairs to flooded structures within a designated Special Flood Hazard Area require a Floodplain Development Permit.

Fees for floodplain development permits may be waived if damage was caused by recent flooding.
